Germany: ARTPORT_making waves

What is at issue:

ARTPORT_making waves is an international curatorial collective focusing on art projects that explore climate change and sustainability. Established in 2006, ARTPORT_making waves has organized numerous innovative art and cultural projects that promote tolerance, sustainable development, and the common good. The aim is to raise awareness of socially relevant issues and to stimulate public discussion for positive change.

UNESCO and the UN General Assembly declare the period 2021 to 2030 the UN Decade of Oceanography. The project WE ARE OCEAN aims to make an artistic contribution to the preparatory phase of this decade. To this end, the International Oceanographic Commission (IOC-UNESCO), IASS Potsdam, the Alfred Wegener Institute and many other scientific actors are cooperating in order to think with schoolchildren, artists and politicians about not only theoretical, but also practical improvements for the world's oceans.
